The most common method of wearing dreads is long and loose. Unless the weather is hot or your work requires you to move the dreads out of your face, in which case, the simplest style to wear your hair is tied up in a neat bun.
Gathering your hair in a bun gets the hair out of your face and is generally more comfortable than leaving it loose.
With the help of basic tools, like concealed rubber bands, your dreads will look clean, neat, and stylish.
Follow these 5 steps to shape your dreadlocks into the perfect bun:
Step 1: Using an elastic headband, secure your locs in a high ponytail. Gather your locs in a single bunch and wrap the elastic band around it a couple of times.
Step 2: Leave two dreads hanging loose and twist the rest of your locs, starting from the roots.
Step 3 : Form your bun by circling the dreads and tuck the ends under the bun. Secure them from under the bottom using the elastic band from step 1.
Step 4: Pull the two loose dreads from the bottom and wrap them around the bun. Tie them at the top using a simple cross-over knot and pull them tight to give the bun a lift and to keep it in place.
Step 5: Tuck the ends of the loose dreads under the bun and secure them with the elastic band from step 1, or tuck them into the bun.
Finish up with a few accessories in your hair to spruce up the basic bun, or leave it natural and you’re ready for work in minutes!
